This public runbook helps IT consultants, system administrators, and business owners plan a clean mobile dashboard rollout from existing SQL, Access, ERP, API, or legacy data sources.

1. Discovery Questions

  • Which business question should a manager answer from a phone every day?
  • Where does the source data live: SQL Server, Access, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, ODBC, CSV, DBF, ERP, or API?
  • Who owns the database credentials and who approves dashboard queries?
  • Which users need mobile access and which roles should they see?
  • Is the first phase read-only, or does the business need controlled mobile writeback later?

2. Proof-of-Concept Scope

A strong first proof uses one company, one role, one data source, and three to five practical widgets. Good candidates include sales today, attendance today, pending receivables, low stock, open work orders, production output, or overdue service jobs.

3. Handoff Checklist

  1. Confirm the Agent machine, data source, and connection method.
  2. Record the dashboard owner, business approver, and support contact.
  3. Validate mobile numbers against the trusted desktop or ERP report.
  4. Review role access and remove any test users no longer needed.
  5. Plan the next vertical dashboard, alert, or documentation update.
